Department of Public Safety and Corrections Second Chance & Community Job Fair

Friday, April 21st
11:00 AM - 7:00 PM

You are invited to join us for our Second Chance & Community Job Fair
Hosted by the Department of Public Safety and Corrections at the
Alexandria Mall. April 21. 2023 from 11 :00 AM-7:00 PM.

April of each year is designated by the State and Federal Government as Second Chance Month, to raise awareness of the collateral consequences associated with a criminal conviction. In response to 2nd Chance Month, the Department of Corrections (DOC) and other community partners launched the Return for Good Campaign. This campaign focuses on removing barriers of employment for men and women who have paid their debt to society. Each year approximately 16,000 people are released back to their communities. Oftentimes they have achieved Industry Based Certifications (IBC) in various programs from construction to culinary arts, among many more. They are eager to join the workforce and put their training to use. Employment is one of the main factors in reducing crime and recidivism for those being released which is why DOC has taken extensive measures to assist in their success. Besides IBC training, many of those releasing have also been trained in various programs offered by DOC including education, employment preparation, pre-release classes, and more.

Help us celebrate second chances by having your company present at the job fair to interact with local returning citizens and the local community about employment opportunities. This is a great opportunity to meet quality employees and fill vacancies. DOC Headquarters will be in attendance with their mobile computer labs if your company requires a web based application.
